Unless you are extremely new here, you are not surprised that this post was coming. But you might be surprised that I used to be so anti Golden Goose sneakers, it was kind of a joke.
I first saw them about three years ago on a friends and immediately looked them up and about laughed off my chair. Not only were they $500+, they. Were. Dirty! and intentionally so! As a self described preppy dresser, dirty shoes just won’t do. I blasted them on my SnapChat {back when I actually used that, pre IG stories}, made fun of them in a blog post {I’ve been digging and still can’t find it} and chuckled when I saw people wearing them around town. I disliked the shoes so much, I filed them under the “Why I Don’t Like San Diego” ongoing column in my head: people were so concerned with money and branding here, that they were willing to knowingly over spend ON DIRTY SHOES!
Welp, there was no avoiding them. They were everywhere. But they slowly began to grow on me as I never saw the same pair twice and new styles were always around whenever I happened to “stumble” upon them while shopping, online or in person. Then I bought myself a pair of Chanel flats for a birthday two years ago and realized that those shoes had been raised in price $200 more than I remembered. I discussed with the saleslady and naturally, my mom, that the price was crazy. We agreed they would do the same thing that a pair of $15 flip flops would do: get me from A to B, but probably do a worse job than said flip flops as you would be so dang worried about ruining a $800 pair of flats. But I loved them and it was my birthday. So they came home with me.
When the sneaker trend hit hard {thank you universe for perfectly timing that with me being a mom to toddlers!}, I bought these shoes as a reward for potty training Madrid. Yep, these were overpriced too, but like I could resist that navy ruffle. {seen in an outfit post here hereand .} They were preppy but still in line with wearing sneakers. I always got compliments on them, and while the price was crazy, they were at least clean!
This last summer and fall, I realized that I had stumbled from hating them to loving them. This post from Kara really put it over the edge for me and I quickly ordered a couple of pairs to check them out. The first three pairs, were uncomfortable and I couldn’t quite get the size right. They only run in whole European sizes and I did laps around my {carpeted} office to try to figure it out. I sent all three pairs back, as I wanted to find “my” pair that I know I wouldn’t second guess. My rule, when shopping is, if you don’t immediately love something when you see it or see it on, don’t talk yourself into it. You will always feel not quite right in it. {for the record this PINK GOLDEN GOOSE pair and this GLITTER GOLDEN GOOSE pair where the ones I originally ordered…and sent back.}
I found this pair on sale and immediately ordered it in the 38, even though I am a 7. For whatever reason, those first three pairs I ordered had me convinced that I was a 38. When they arrived, I opened the box and got goose bumps and squealed “efff yeah!” just like that, not the real F word. I knew that I loved them and I found my pair. After speaking to a friend about them {at this point, they were the only thing I was talking about on my IG stories}, she said that I needed a 37, not 38. I was worried that I wouldn’t get the same great deal that I did on my pair. I checked the website, and they had been marked down again to well under $300, only in a 37. Boom!
No, they weren’t the most comfortable shoe that I ever owned but I loved them and they felt great, they made any outfit seem cuter to me and I felt chic enough to wear them in First Class when we took our fall trip to Europe. {I would normally never wear a sneaker while traveling. Well, maybe a converse with a blazer.} I ended up wearing them almost every day of our Rome fall trip and we walked, an average of 11.5 miles a day. They gave me the least amount of blisters and sore feet than any other pair of shoes I packed. I was an official convert.
Tricks to Getting Golden Goose on Sale
1. Check HERE, and HERE. Here also tends to have at least a couple of random colors on sale.
While many websites carry these shoes, I got mine from HERE and I have found that these websites carry the most styles, sizes and do price changes the most. For example, Neiman Marcus carries them, but they will only be marked down during their yearly sales. These websites change prices daily. I’m not kidding. Mine were $615 one day, $450 the next and under $300 a couple of days later.
2. Filter the search by your size and price lowest to highest.
This insures that you don’t fall in love with a style that is out of the price that you are willing to pay or that isn’t available in your size. This also narrows down the overwhelming amount of styles. For example, the glitter wasn’t what I originally intended but I did want the body and the tongue to be different colors and I wanted dark laces. Why all of these preferences? I don’t know, but I do know that I was able to narrow down “my” pair rather quickly. And even more quickly when I found them on sale.
3. Direct Message on Instagram or email me!
I have helped multiple readers find their pair and I would love to help you find yours! Give me your size, style presences and budget and let’s make it happen! I can easily send you links and I would love to do it.
4. Be Patient
As with anything and everything, the best is worth you being patient. They are just shoes, at the end of the day, and there are countless look-a-likes, which is a 100% different than copy, that will still, yes, get you from A to B.

Excellent read, I just passed this onto a colleague who was doing a little research on that. And he actually bought me lunch as I found it for him smile Thus let me rephrase that: Thank you for lunch! “Remember It is 10 times harder to command the ear than to catch the eye.” by Duncan Maxwell Anderson.
