I discussed this a bit before the holiday rush: I never want you to feel pressure to shop or ‘Swipe Up” on my feed. My motto has always been that I rather be a resource for you than make money from where you online shop. Yes, my affiliate links is how I make my income {see more about it in my blog post here}, but this blog started as a creative outlet. While it has turned more successful than I thought was possible by just being myself and online shopping, I’ve loved the people that I’ve connected to and “met” on here. That is MORE and the most important thing to me, more than making money.
Therefore, during Black Friday and Cyber Monday crunch, I shared that I was even feeling the pressure and that I didn’t want you to feel pressure from me. I promised then that I would come up with some ideas for easy and thoughtful gifts that you wouldn’t need inspiration from a blogger for. Here are easy gift ideas that you can order/arrange/purchase today and get it done with.
1 – Newspaper / Magazine / Spotify Subscription
It is no secret that I am a huge fan of the New York Times podcast ‘The Daily.’ They are always saying that they couldn’t do the podcast without the NYT subscriptions. And I’m always getting adds in the mail that an entire year of a magazine is under $40, with many being $20. Vanity Fair is $15 for the year. Subscribe them to a magazine. They will think of you monthly.
2 – Charity Donation
Find a cause that speaks to them and make a donation in their name. It doesn’t have to be a 10k donation. All nonprofits are always thankful and would be even more so during this crazy year. Were they at the front of the line at the Black Lives Matter marches? Donate in their name. Are they are tree hugger, constantly talking about the plastics in our oceans or how eating red meat is killing the Amazon Rain forest at an acre a minute? Donate to the Rainforest Trust. Are they just really passionate about kittens? Donate to their locate animal shelter.
3 – Photo
This sounds narcissistic, but growing up, even when I was in college my aunts and uncles were always asking for updated photos of me for frames. Order photos right from your phone from EZprints.
4 – Plan a day
Get a fun card and plan a date with them. Plan to have them over for homemade pancakes in January or February {something for you all to look forward to}, followed by a hike the two of you, or even just a walk in the neighborhood. Get their favorite cocktail and pick them up for a sunset picnic to chat or just hang. Time is truly the only gift, since you don’t get it back, so why not gift time with you?
5 – Fun Print
While everyone has something that they love, an actor or a cause or even a politician, not everyone has a print of their fandom. Search Etsy or here for prints. I recently searched here for “Meghan Markle print,” found a couple that I liked the style of and then clicked on the artist to see other public figures they have done.
