Motherhood has truly made me a fan of summer. I never really liked it pre kids. The weather is more of the same here in San Diego, there is more traffic and tourists and I’m not the hugest beach person. With kids, it makes me reminisce about that happy summer feelings of youth. I walked barefoot in the parking lot the other day after an evening at the gym {still nursing blisters from our 30 miles of hiking in Jackson, Wyoming}. The sensation of end of the day subtle concrete heat on bare feet brought back summer memories of long pool days and teenage dreams.
That sounded so corny, but it is true!
This weekend, we are relaxing at home and enjoying a summer weekend. The kids have been in camp this week, which has given me too much car time and driving, but they are happy and thriving. We head off to a big vacation next week, so I hope to get a jump start on all of our packing!
Friday Five
This set is too cute to just wear it for lounging. In my mind, it is meant for a slick low pony, layered gold jewelry and Birkenstocks.
2 – Sunscreen
This is my favorite sunscreen. It is a local San Diego company and I normally have multiples stashed all over the house: in my bathroom, in the kids’ rooms, in the kitchen and in the car. I’m that pyscho mom who loads up my kids when it’s overcast and in winter. I’ve got to have it. It must be a sign of my diligence since my supply and locations are dwindling. Need to order more for our upcoming beach vacation {and for my car supply.}
My daughter is beyond thriving at her new school. It has been amazing to watch her learn to read and write. I recently got her this series and she cannot put them down. She read and entire book before I dropped her off at camp yesterday! If you need a gift or a summer reading project {or are like me, and always like to have a couple of back up gifts for last minute birthday/ kids gifts}, I highly recommend this box set!
4 – Chloe Bag
Designer bags are my weakness. During normal times, I always have a running “Wish List” in my head and am constantly saving for the next bag to add. With Covid and maybe me being more responsible, I haven’t bought a new splurge worthy bag in almost 2 years!
I don’t even remember where I spotted this bag first, but I’ve been constantly dreaming of it since…
5 – Workout Socks
Even though I’m a “blogger,” chances are if you see me in person, I look like a hot mess either coming from the gym or a long {read: stinky} run. And every single time I meet someone and they ask what I do for work, I’m dressed in leggings. Therefore, since I am in workout clothes every day, I’ve started to share on my IG stories what brands I’m wearing.
I’ve shared these socks countless times. And I know you will think I’ve lost my mind when I’m telling you to ‘Swipe Up’ on $15 athletic socks. But I PROMISE you, try them once! They will change your game. I never workout without them.
