Navy Fleece Jacket {S} || Sweater, old. Similar Cashmere Sweater || White Jeans { on sale! 25} || Glitter Golden Goose {37} || Sunglasses {$69}
While I do wish I lived somewhere with more exaggerated seasons, it does seem that fall showed up roughly on time this year! We went from 90F to cooler fall temps, making me gladly reaching for my trusted and true fall layers. Because I do live in San Diego, I might not be the resource for a warm winter jacket for snow. Yet, our subtle temperature changes and non aggressive winter does make me a resource for light fall and winter layers. These are the layers that are tried and true and what I reach for each year. Each has a special place in my closet and you have and will see them on my feed from years past and for years to come. Below is my list of trusty layers, and a list of some new additions to my closet that already have earned their keep, one of which I have on as I write this!
Best Fall and Winter Layers
- EXCURSION VEST
- I’ve been posting about this vest for years. I love it over button downs, cashmere sweaters and layered under jackets. Each year, they add new prints, but my tried and true is the navy one, duh. This year’s version has slightly different stitching, but if you prefer more classic, check out the black or navy puffer vest here and the fun herringbone vest here.
- ASSYMETRICAL FLEECE
- I’m both embarrassed and proud to claim that I have four of these. So cozy and the most flattering length, they cover your bum, I love the contrast of the quilted neckline. So cute, and warm, with leggings. Just equally as cute with skinnies and sneakers.
- CASHMERE SWEATER – with any sweater, I wouldn’t survive without my sweater shaver.
- There are endless Cashmere sweaters to recommend, but when I need/want a new one, my first stop is always here. They add new styles and colors alllllll the time and they normally are occasionally marked down when the weather cools down. I’ve been checking daily and no such luck. Make sure you are following along on my Instagram and Instagram stories, because I will be sure to share once they do. I have zero chill or patience, so I just ordered this one. This classic cashmere crewneck is under $100 and comes in endless colors.
- PUFFER JACKET
- This puffer jacket was my No. 1 best purchase last year during Black Friday and Cyber Monday. I wore it a ton and didn’t regret it once. The style is so cute, both with leggings and with real clothes and was actually the only jacket I brought to our recent trip to Utah. Love, love, love! Literally, don’t know what I did before this was in my closet. The longer version is going to be the first item I pick up this year on Cyber Weekend, as there were a couple of times that I wish my bum wasn’t so dang cold. We also have many plans to be spending more time in the mountains, so I know that it will get as much use as its shorter counterpart.
- BODYSUIT
- How is this going to keep you warm, you ask? After our recent trip to Utah in October, I realized that that extra close layer does actually make a difference. I wore this on the cooler night, when I knew we would be eating outside, under a sweater, and didn’t need my jacket until much later. I also wore it under this cardigan for one evening walking around town. The extra closer layer does actually keep you warmer! Then you can shed a layer, or two, as you cozy up or eat in doors with heaters blasting.
- FIELD JACKET
- The preppy ness of this jacket is what made me fall in love. But the warmth and the way it perfectly pairs with eveything made it one the best sellers from my blog and the LIKEtoKNOW.it app in both 2018 and 2019. Looks so cute with a hoodie underneath or my favorite preppy cashmere. {This cashmere will go on sale for Black Friday, for sure. Make sure you are following along on my IG stories to get notifications. I have it in pristine white, but bought a new one with tags in gray on a resale site. A great way to get cashmere at a discount.}
New Layers
These are items that I’ve either added to my closet recently, or plan on buying as fall and winter items start to go on sale.
- NAVY FLEECE JACKET
- Saw this in the window in Utah, and had to have it. It is shorter and boxier than I realized, but it perfect for layering in San Diego. Cute enough and warm enough, when needed but wear it open to avoid the multi layer sweats.
- LONG PUFFER JACKET
- As I mentioned above, the shorter version of this jacket was my favorite Cyber Weekend purchase from last year. The longer version is already in my online cart awaiting any markdown, if I, to be expected, have zero chill and want it sooner.
- PEARL CARDGIAN
- Not technically a winter layer, but cozy and cute. Perfect for nights out, or in, as the weather starts to cool without having to sacrifice any cuteness. I plan on pairing mine with this bodysuit for an upcoming date night at our favorite San Diego restaurant. {love having ideas for outfits in the back of my mind, ready to strut!}
