You really can’t avoid Black Friday, even if are beyond determined. It is freaking everywhere. Don’t get overwhelmed. I am sharing my tactics on how to make this day enjoyable, yes! enjoyable and productive, including what sales I have been waiting for.
Do It From Home
For the love of God, do NOT go to the mall. For anything. That is just crazy. You will leave mad, frazzled and cursing capitalism. Plus, it will get in the way of you enjoying your family time and the two {ok, three} bottles of wine that have your name on them and that you deserve.
Plan Ahead
Get your lists organized. For me, that means taking pen to paper. I call my mom and mother-in-law and figure out gifting plans before Friday, so I can plan accordingly. For example, in recent years, we have only been buying and receiving for and from one person. So if I am buying for Uncle Jo, then I do some research. What is trending for gifts for men, what he likes, etc. etc. Then I figure out what retailers would be best for what I am looking for before Black Friday, so I am not scrambling the day of. Also, if you are totally over it and in a turkey coma, Cyber Monday always has good deals too.
Get What You Need
Just because it the season of giving doesn’t mean that you have to just buy for others. Black Friday and Cyber Monday are great chances to get some deals for yourself. Wanting a new washing machine? This would be the time to get it. {still recommend getting it online. But follow rule #2 and do your research in store before Black Friday. Some retailers might even honor those prices beforehand.}
For example, we need new sheets. I have been drooling over these embroidered sheets since I was first buying us sheets when we got married almost 9 years ago. It has been a practice in patience. But I plan on getting them when they {fingers crossed!} go on sale. Therefore, I am doing my research before hand {Rule #2 again}. I will know what stye and color I want long before Black Friday, so I can get the shopping done as quickly as possible.
What Sales I Look Forward To:
Barrington Gifts
I fell in love with the brand when they sent me a baby bag and now I gift myself a new monogrammed wallet each Christmas. This cosmetics case was a favorite gift {from me, to me} from a couple of years ago…I might need an upgrade!
The options truly are endless with the fabrics, colors and monograms, that no two gifts are alike. To save time, you can pick one style of product {the St. Anne Tote, wallet and small cosmetics case are great places to start}, and then change the color and monogram for the nice girls on your list!
Tory Burch or Insert Any Brand You Have Your Eye On Here
While I am not a huge supporter of this brand {meaning, I don’t wear it often} I did score the most awesome pair of velvet tie flats from their Black Friday sale a couple of years ago. I still refer to this find as one of my greatest and have loved the shoes, and getting them on sale, for every year since.
I am not saying that you must shop Tory, but if there is a brand that you love, check out their current selections, keep a mental note and see if what you want is on sale over Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Do NOT, I REPEAT Do NOT buy something for yourself that you kind of like just because it is on sale. Buy gifts for other people because they are on sale. Do NOT get yourself something that you kinda, sorta maybe like a little, just because it is on sale.
Abercrombie
This is a great retailer for fleeces including this asymmetrical one that I brag about nonstop every fall and the sherpa fleece I got for myself this year. This would also be a good place to shop for any high schoolers or college age kids on your list. {me, waiting patiently by the front door for this blush fleece to show up.}
J.Crew
Probably where 90% of my closet is from, J.Crew always has great sales this time of year. Fingers crossed that their cashmere is included this year. And their gift guide section is so cherry and happy.
Mark & Graham
The BEST place for personalized gifts at all price points. I always order hostess gifts from here for parties that send out invitations with enough time for me to order!

I love shopping here for stocking stuffers and last minute hostess gifts.

I got my first pair this year and am a huge fan. Not only does this make the perfect gift for the hippy {they are made from recycled plastic bottles} or Royalisy Loyalist {Meghan Markle is a fan} on your list, but they are, by far, the most comfortable shoes in my closet.
As I am a new fan and just shopped this brand for the first time recently, I am not sure if they play into the Black Friday hype. I would assume it would be on brand if they didn’t. But I am hoping that they do as I want, like, 10 more pairs and want to try them out for my kids too. The perfect kid shoe, if your kids are anything like mine, as they are machine washable. The shoes, not the kids.

These clear bags make the best hostess gifts, new mom gifts {for organizing the baby bag} and really for anyone on your list that is difficult to shop for. I got, I think, 12 last year and dolled them out as gifts over the year as thank you gifts and hostess gifts. I kept two for myself and used them every time we traveled and the smaller one as a clutch a couple of time. {tip: don’t use it during your time of month. Only use it for carrying your phone, your credit cards, without the numbers showing and your lippy.}

The most festive and fun gifts and amazing deals. They outdo themselves every holiday season and I love all their clip on earrings! {I don’t have my ears pierced.}
