I am embarrassed to say this, but it truly is embarrassing how easy it is! I should have waaaaay better content once I found this life hack, but taking the photos is 1/8 of the work. Styling them, editing them and making sure the items I’m wearing are in stock in more than just my size takes up the most amount of time. Yet, with this tripod, {and this iPhone adapter} it truly is point and click. This iPhone bluetooth remote is easier to set up than beg my husband or taking the risk of asking my kids to try to take the picture . {Note: Fernando is very accommodating. Especially considering he is one of the most private people I have ever met and really enjoys “living in the moment,” i.e. having your iPhones away.}
This post is leaning into being just fluff and products links, but I want to show you what I have done to be more confident in getting the photos that I want.

Don’t Be Shy
This was the first, and most difficult step. When I finally got up the confidence to give this whole “blogger tripod photo” thing a try, I knew that I had to bump up my self confidence.
This has always been my problem when getting the photo in “real life.” I get shy posing in public, asking my husband to take the photo when we are out at brunch or date night and rushing it because I get so nervous. This entire thing is narcissistic in nature, so I guess I get worried that people will think I’m drunk on my own fame. Welp, that has always been my thing. I don’t take myself too seriously on here. My long term goals with blogging and being on Instgarm are not to land the cover of a magazine or a clothing deal. It is, to hit 25k followers and do a sponsored post with one of my top 10 favorite brands.
While you might see this as aiming low, I see it as what it is. The truth. This started as a creative outlet from dealing with life and death decisions when I was working as a Nurse at a hospital. When it began to make money, I made sure that that never became my reason.
I always say that I rather be a resource than make money.
Meaning, I would rather you DM me for fashion or life advice than use my links or be become “Instagram Famous.”
So back to not being shy. Don’t worry if someone sees you and laughs, or wonders what you are doing. Strike that pose and be proud that you are creating something that makes you happy.
My first time cracking out the tripod was a trip to Mexico with my in-laws. I packed the tripod, knowing that I would use it, since it had taken up space in my suitcase. This created my own pressure cooker of actually using it. One day, during nap time, I went down to the beach, found a spot and made sure the blue tooth iPhone remote was working and started snapping. I got a little shy, wondering who was watching, but felt more confident when one of the first photos {pictured above} was the end product.
Be proud of what you are creating, what you are sharing and don’t care who is watching!
Funny fact: when I got back to our apartment for evening tequila, my father law said that he saw a blogger twirling by the pool. I smiled, knowing that he had been watching. Ideal? No. But again, be proud of what you are creating.

“Scout” the Area
When on the aforementioned vacation, I knew that I wanted to shoot by that tree. I kept an eye on it to see when the light was the best. Then when I was ready to take the photos, I literally got the camera app open on my phone and checked how the light would look at different locations.
This goes back to the first rule, don’t be shy. Yes, this will look ridiculous, but then you get a realistic look at the light and setting of your photos.

Backup Batteries
This blue tooth iPhone remote is amazing, but doesn’t hold the best battery life. I got all ready to take some photos in my driveway, losing that golden light a little too quickly and realized I was out of batteries. You only need to learn this lesson once. Don’t let it be on vacation. Order back up of these batteries.

Be Click Happy
You can always delete the photos, you can’t {always} recreate them. I click as many times as I can stand it, twirling, changing stances, changing little details of what I’m wearing. You never know what photo will end up being your favorite.
I then go back and heart the ones that I like, deleting the others as I go. This way I can quickly delete up to 100 photos that I don’t love. I keep narrowing this down by going to my ‘Favorites’ in my photos and narrowing them down, then deleting the ones that don’t have hearts. Then you quickly have the photos that you like the best.

Preplan Outfits
Pre shop, yes, of course. But also, plan where you are going to be. For example, if I know that we are going out to brunch after church, this will effect what I pick to wear. If I know that we will be home when the backyard light is reaaaaally good, then I will make sure that I have on an outfit that I like, clean hair optional.
If the idea of using the tripod makes you nervous and your prefer to rely on friends and family, make sure you are wearing something cute when you meet up for lunch and ask them to do it for you!
With a little planning and a lot of confidence, you will be setting up for iPhone tripod photos, all over town!
Note: I much prefer this tripod but you will need to get this iPhone adapter if you plan on using your iPhone. It just screws right in top. If you prefer a tripod meant for iPhone, check out this one here. I prefer the one I have and linked, as the weight is minimal, it comes with its own bag and I like the ease as to which to change height. This will also 100% work to film video, or youtube on you iPhone, due to the legs having adjustable heights.
