This year, the infamous, and blogger favorite, Nordstrom Sale seems a little different. Even last year, during a pandemic, I knew that there was a little push back on bloggers constantly encouraging their readers to “Swipe up!”, despite record numbers of people being laid off due to the pandemic. I myself found myself disgusted with some bloggers that I used to follow, “staying out of” the Black Lives Matter Protests because they “didn’t want to get political on {Instagram}” yet, doing hundreds of slides and IG stories for said sale . {I was interviewed and quoted in this BuzzFed article all about that, linked HERE.}
This year, it seems almost “cool girl” to not be covering it, or mentioning it on Instagram and blogs. I feel like the article that I linked above perfectly covers my stance on it BUT…I will be shopping it again this year.
I asked in some polls on Instagram if you wanted coverage and my list of items I recommend. A large majority said yes, please share!
Please let me remind you, they are just clothes. If you size sells out, it wasn’t meant to be. Most items might get marked down in the fall, when you can actually wear most products included in the sale. Many people buy, wear and then sell on poshmark. So if there is something you are dying for and missed, check resale sites. {or email me! I would love to help you find a specific item. I do this alllll the time for readers looking for specific Golden Goose.}
What I’m Buying
- In my head, I am wearing these booties with everything: dresses, light wash denim and faux leather leggings. I’m a little worried that they aren’t 100% my style, but I really like them.
- I really don’t need more hats {loooove these $25 ones I found from Amazon for our recent trip}, but I love this brand and their hats. Excited to try this more causal one that is giving me cowgirl vibes.
- Because I have a smocked dress obsession, and these are the only underwear I wear, sometimes a breeze can cause and issue. I bought these last year and loved them. Buying more pairs this year.
- I’ve been really curious about this workout set. The top might not be as supportive as I like, but love that blue color and the top looks super flattering. leggings here
- These high waisted leggings are also on my wish list…
- In the cooler months in San Diego, I wear fleeces nonstop, so I will be ordering this color block mixed media fleece and this navy quilted fleece one to see what one is cuter in person.
- My #1 wishlist item is this oversized blazer. Blazers are such a part of my style that this is a great example to get the items that you love on this sale, or any sale! Fingers crossed they don’t sell out.
What I Have Purchased in Years Past
- Spanx Leggings – So cute with sweaters in the fall. They are such a classic and worth the full price, but again, why not save some money???
- Mother Denim – two years ago, this sale was my introduction to this brand. The jeans tend to be $200+ so this sale is perfect if you want to see what all the fuss is about. {If you don’t see styles you like, or your size is sold out, enjoy your summer dresses until the weather cools down. Shopbop has a fall sale that I tend to shop 10x more than this one that has a bunch of Mother Denim styles}.
- Oribe – a Meghan Markle favorite and therefore a favorite of mine. The smell is beyond. The price is very bougie, so a great chance to try.
- Hanky Panky – my favorite underwear. I wear them everyday {yes, I wear thongs everyday. And have since I was 17. Like you needed another example of me being crazy…}. I got the high waisted, which is called ‘Regular Rise’ last year and they changed my game since all my leggings are high waisted.
- Brixton Hat – I actually think I originally got this hat at the Shopbop sale, but either way, it a favorite and one I have replaced and purchased in multiple colors.
- Pajamas – these are almost an eberjey dupe and I’ve purchased a new pair or a replacement pair every year. Love the short pajama set for summer. They are also nursing friendly, if you need a gift for a new or expectant mom. They are also great for when being a house guest or having houseguests: cozy and soft and a little sexy, but still you are covered up.
What I Recommend to Shop {if you need to…}
Denim
If there is a pair or brand that you love, I really recommend getting this sale. In this sale in years past, I’ve purchased Rag & Bone, Madewell and Mother Denim for the first time, leading me to now list these brands as my favorite label to wear and recommend to friends and readers.
Outwear
If you’ve been here a while, you know that I don’t live in the best place {San Diego} for the weather I prefer {cold, rainy and cloudy}. There are some swoon worthy jackets this year, if you are lucky enough to live somewhere you can wear them more often then December- January.
Kids
This year, there wasn’t a bunch for either of my kids in either of their sizes. {I’m sure most moms know this, but always filter by size when online shopping.} But I do get Leo a new jacket each year and Madrid some jammies.
Shoes
These booties are the #2 item on my wish list to snag this year { #1 is this blazer }, but there are a great selection of booties. Every year, I know that this pair, or a version of it, are among the Best Seller for the Nordstrom Sale, both company wide and within LTK.
Beauty
This is a great time to filter by any products you need or brands you’ve wanted to try. My favorites that I get every year are Oribe Texturing Spray {a Meghan Markle favorite}, Arcona Pads {a Nordstrom Sale discovery the first year I covered the sale on my blog}, and Olaplex, my favorite shampoo {it’s expensive, and sooo worth it. But why not get it on sale???}
