This was after a magical day in Nantucket {is there any other kind???}. We had a family run, then went to the playground at Kid’s Beach and then to lunch at the White Elephant. As always, feel free to contact me with any questions when/if you are planning to visit Nantucket. I was pleasantly surprised with how easy and family friendly this vacation was. Maybe it was this magical place. Maybe it was our kiddos are currently at a magical age. Either way, I have restaurant recommendations, baby rental recommendations and Nanny recommendations!
Kid Friendly Restaurants:
Something Natural : Hands down, locals and visitors alike refer to this as the best sandwhiches on the Island. I know that they are closed in the off season, but are open from Spring through Fall. The parking lot can be a bit of a cluster, so I recommend walking from town, like we did. My dream home is across the street {as seen in this Instragram post}. It is a little cottage with ample picnic baskets and lawn area for the kids to run around, play and make local friends.
Brant Point Grill in the White Elephant : This menu is more chic/ elegant with adult friendly options, yet extremely kid friendly options. {our kiddos got the fresh fish, fresh veggie plate, but they also have typical kid menu options}. I was told by a reader when we were there that there is a fun family focused music and happy our on Fridays. Ask to sit on the patio for your meal. The patio is covered with room for the kids to run around and there is a large lawn right in front, yet separate from the walk, so the kids can run in circles and you can enjoy your cocktail.
Nantucket Yacht Club: While this isn’t open to the public, if you’ve ever meet anyone that has offered to host you and your family, take them up on it! The staff was beyond accommodating with the kids and the menu is extremely child friendly. The property is right out of a dreamy East Coast movie.
Straight Wharf: We had my favorite meal of the vacation here. While I know that my children are less active than most, we had a fabulous family long lunch here. It was a Friday, so it was fun to get a table facing the wharf to see the ferry’s coming in, bringing the weekend crowd {read: preppy people watching, on steroids}. The menu was children friendly, if your children are adventurous or veggie focused. We ending up going back for dinner, without the kiddos. If you do have children in tow, I recommend lunch over dinner.
Baby Rental:
Nantucket Baby: We have had such amazing luck with renting baby gear on vacations, I didn’t really think about this until the week of our travels. Nantucket Baby didn’t have a lot of the gear that I requested {I asked for a crib, high chair, beach chairs and toys}, but they shuffled things around to get me the essentials {crib} before we landed.
Petite Traveler: This was a recommendation from a friend and is actually run by a friend of friend. Again, I planned a little last minute, especially being the last weekend of the summer, therefore they didn’t have accommodations for me, but I will be using them and Nantucket Baby next time.
Nanny Service:
NannyTucket: I am an extremely nervous mom. I used to be worried in our single story first home, that was 1500 square feet, that someone would sneak through Madrid’s window and streal her while she napped in her crib and I was on the treadmill in the garage. I have relaxed a bit, but I use this concern to share how nervous I run. Therefore, for me to recommend a babysitting service, I must feel extremely comfortable. Nannytucket was beyond amazing and accommodating. My children loved our nanny, we saw her the next day on the beach with another family and she still loved on my children like she was there for them. Ask for Kaylyn. She. Was. Amazing and I was bummed to leave Nantucket for many reasons, but she and how much my kids loved her and she loved them, was high on the list.
This ruffle bodysuit has since sold out, but I love this look with these high waisted jeans, the highest in my growing collection. I recently got this bodysuit, that is a little more fall layering friendly.
Could this back drop be any more dreamy??? We tried to get some photos of the kids for a possible Christmas card, but naturally, as is always the case when under the pressure to get a kid photo, they didn’t cooperate. Yet, we still have some magical photos from this quinessential East Coast photo op location.
Y’all know that I think that stripes are 100% a neutral. I love them paired unexpectadly with different patterns or colors and this pop of mustard is no exception. In San Diego, this paring would easily work year around: with feminine ballet flat in summer and spring and with booties and a blazer in fall and winter.
This was one of those days that I was prepared to dress the part. Either be showered and look like I cared or to simply stay in the mom uniform of workout gear. Yet, this is kind of a mix of the two. And this handbag is hopefully distracting you from my random outfit.
